Culbin Forest

It rained all last night – but it had stopped before breakfast this morning. I had planned to do a bit of shopping in Inverness and then go onto Nairn and the Culbin Forest. This was a good choice as the best of the weather was along this coast, I could see heavy rain all around me in the distance but it was excellent weather where I was.

When I got back to the camp site it had been raining here during the day.

At Clubin I walked through the forest and out to the coast where I had a good view across the water.

Walking today

I parked just outside Contin today with the plan to walk to Rogie Falls and back again. Most of the walk was along good forest paths but the return path along the river side started off well but eventually faded to nothing at a river gully about a mile or so short of my destination. Luckily I was able to make my way up the gully and back into the forest and the path, so I did not have to retrace my route.

Lunch today

I found a great place to stop for lunch today.

These rocks are upstream from Rogie Falls.

The water for lunch and for drinking for the rest if the day came from the river – using my Travel Tap bottle. Yesterday I recommended this bottle to one of the people on the campsite, as a good way to save weight when walking – as long as there is natural water around this bottle will make it safe to drink, so you do not have to carry too much heavy water.
