Looking ominous
The forecast is for gales and rain and they were not wrong. This picture taken on the way out of Kirkby Stephen on our way to Tan Hill Inn a mere 12 miles a way.

This morning taken in Kirkby Stephen outside The Black Bull. Excellent place to stay, great food, brilliant room but the best thing was the bath to soothe my aching bones & sore feet.

After 20 miles in the rain The Black Bull Hotel was a great place to stay. Helpful staff, good beer, best food on the journey so far and nice rooms – even had a video libary so we watched the Time Machine after dinner. Anyone doing the Coast to Coast should stay in the Black Bull Hotel when they get to Kirby Stephen.
Useful place to get to the Co Op in open until 10pm so we bought chocolate and pain killers (no for me) for the walk on Sunday.

Some of these entries will be out of order as it has been two days since I have had a reliable connection.
The route we worked out for our C2C walk included a big peak. Unfortunately the weather was not great. Cloudy, very cold and very windy. We chose to come down on Swirral Edge and as we dropped off the summit the weather started to improve and we end the day walking into Patterdale in a beautiful summers evening.

This was how yesterday (Sat) started, sadly it didn’t stay like this for long. By 11am the heavens opened and neved stopped for the remaining 16 of our 20 miles. All this water is not good for taking photos and tommorow looks no better with 60mph wind gusts as we trek on to the highest pub in England.

Got a good start this morning unlike the previous days no big climbs today. A twenty mile jaunt across the moors to Kirby Stephens with gentle ups and downs.
A grey day but ideal for keeping to the schedule.
The photo shows the view back to the Lake District where we came through yesterday.
