Octagon Technology

Stuck in a warehouse

I have spent my day at a client’s waiting for British Gas – they want to change an electric meter, I am here to turn off, and then, restart the servers.

I got here in plenty of time for their 11am to 1pm appointment. I was ready. It is now 1.30pm and no word from them. They gave themselves a two hour window which they missed – it is a shame they don’t have a mobile phone with them!

If you see this screen – it is too late for prevention. You need help!

The blog post includes examples of suspect emails and some tactics for Cryptolocker prevention. It also illustrates the importance of a secure data backup in protecting your information from permanent loss.

The Business Club

It was Business Club this evening and Octagon Technology was sponsoring the meeting. This meant that between my regular work and getting ready for my presentation it was difficult to find some time for “photo of the day”. It was fortunate there was a good sunset – it was unfortunate that the A46 and power lines were between me and the sunset!

Sunset from the Bentley Hotel Lincoln

This photograph was taken from the car park of the Bentley Hotel Lincoln, just before the meeting started.
