Yes it really is the middle of June – you can tell by the sunshine!
So here we are standing by the sign about to set off. 9am 17th June 2008 – 192 miles to go.
So the real reason for the trip – to confuse tge geologists. These momentos will be carried all the way the RHB.
Well, we have arrived in St Bees and ready for tomorrow. This evening, we are eating at Platform 9 resturant. Food excellent and as the photo shows Clive was able to pass a referral for business as well.

So with Clive’s boots breaking and now Richard having emergency dental treatment, the best laid plans are not as we would have liked. I guess it’s my turn next!

Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk
I needed an opening post for this blog of the journey and what better photo to start than with a photo of my new boots. I didn’t plan for new boots for the trip and to be fair I do not remember any of the Coast to Coast books or blogs I have read saying “buy new boots one week before the walk”. But when the sole stiffener in your trusty boots, breaks and sticks in to the sole of your foot – there are no options.
Over a year of planning and practice (in the old boots) and we set off to Cumbria on Monday. Richard Poole (RP), Richard Williams (RW) and myself. Watch out for the first shot of the walk on Tuesday, the three of us with our feet in the Irish Sea.
RW is keeping a blog on his site – www.RKWinternet.com, RP is going to post to this blog.
We have set up a sponsorship page for the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance at www.justgiving.com/coast2coastwalking.
