The weather forecast was for heavy showers today so I planned a couple of short walks up near Thirlmere in between them.
One if the most useful gadgets I carry when walking is the dry bag for my iphone. With it I can take photos in really bad weather – although sometimes the quality of the image does drop with rain on the case or light catching on the extra plastic in front of the lens.
There is a sponge pad inside the case that helps squeeze the air out of the case and the small vacuum it causes pulls the plastic tight over the camera lens, which helps with image quality.
So here are some of my rain images from today – and one or two brighter ones.

I moved on today to Pine Lake, near Carnforth. The drive here gave me a chance to do some walking in the Lake District – however the torrential rain and frozen rain stopped that.
I did however get some opportunity to take some photographs in Kirkstone Pass.

Jeremy heading up into the cloud and onto the summit.
When we reached the summit there was no way we could camp there – like Richard and I did last year. What we should have done then was head home – but we thought we could find somewhere out of the weather to camp.! That however did not work out.
We did however have a great day in Lakes. We had an excellent walk to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston in good company. The variable weather gave plenty of good photo opportunities. And we all got home safely with a lot of wet kit to dry out!
There was a chance for one more photo before getting back to the car. There was a lull in the weather at just the right moment.
