This was what the site was like at 7.30 this morning.
It is on mornings like this that I really appreciate my down sleeping bag!

It was an up, then down, then up day. It started off fine and sunny, then cooled and got very grey, but now it is a warm sunny evening.
I moved my tent today to a new pitch, that gets the early sun. My previous pitch was in shadow until much later. All I now need is sun tomorrow.
It was raining and windy this morning so it was a good excuse, on a Sunday morning to lay in with coffee and a video. But you cannot waste the whole day even if it is raining every fifteen minutes.
I needed a gas canister (I could not get one yesterday in Edinburgh) so I went to Halfords in Galashiels to get one, taking the scenic route. The photo is from the tea stop on the way back.
This afternoon and this evening more rain showers and more videos.
Still in my sleeping bag, fresh coffee, sunshine and a nice view. From here I can here the river.

To avoid the Newcastle A1 roadworks I used the A68 today – with a lunchtime stop in Jedburgh.
I managed to get to Scotch Corner with the MX-5 top down before some light rain forced me to pull over and put the roof up. However after leaving Jedburgh it was down again.
I got to the campsite by mid-afternoon and there was no more rain but I was glad I packed the quilted fleece liner for my M65 jacket as it was cool sitting out having my tea. For tonight I have my Helly Hansen base layer, a fleece liner and my down sleeping bag. I am not expecting to get cold.

I have added some new Alpkit gear to my lightweight backpacking and camping cook set.
I have a busy weekend of paperwork for Octagon.
However I am going camping in Scotland for Easter – so I took some time off to sort my backpacking cooking kit and make a new annotated photo for the website.
The main changes this year are the new bits of Alpkit kit – a titanium mug with a lid and a titanium folding spoon. This is a bit of kit that when added to the micro sized Alpkit Kraku stove makes a real minimalist cook set.
Alpkit is a great UK company, producing great gear at a reasonable price – we should support them.
