Yesterday’s snow came to nothing, but today was grey, windy and cold so I did a short local walk right out the back of my house, using both the Aviemore Orbital Path and the Speyside Way.

I drove out to Loch Morlich today and then walked out to a quiet loch I know An Lochan Uaine. As I was leaving the car it snowed just a little and then occasional during the walk there were other short showers but nothing that came close to settling.
This loch is a great place to stop for lunch. Since I was there last a seating area has been built with a great view.

I did set out along the Old Logging Way but was undecided as to whether to head towards An Lochan Or to climb up along the path to Lairig Ghru – in the end the weather looked favourable to get some high level photos graphs so I chose the Lairig Ghru path. The plan was to get out above the tree line, stay high on the ridge and see what the photo opportunities were. On the way up I did get some shots in and around the forest.
However when I got above the tree line the weather deteriorated so much that I had to come down.
