Walking Today – Warton Crag

Rather than drive anywhere today I walked out to Warton Crag from the Pine Lake complex.

I traveled light today, carrying some water and a small first aid/emergency kit in my walking vest – the rest of my kit went into my coat pockets. For lunch I took some breakfast biscuits, some cold chicken from last night’s dinner and my small brew kit. I only carried my titanium mug with lid and a couple of solid fuel tablets and made a small fire place out of some stones to heat the water for my tea.

I also carried a small heavy duty plastic sheet to sit on and my hat and gloves.

An Lochan Uaine

I drove out to Loch Morlich today and then walked out to a quiet loch I know An Lochan Uaine. As I was leaving the car it snowed just a little and then occasional during the walk there were other short showers but nothing that came close to settling.

This loch is a great place to stop for lunch. Since I was there last a seating area has been built with a great view.

Caledonian Canal Inverness

The advice for the Cairngorms today was fog and rain so I headed up to Inverness – to buy a new compass as I have left mine at home and to walk along the Caledonian Canal. I parked by the River Ness and walked through the city to the Muirtown Basin, then out along the canal until it meets up with the river again.
