The weather forecast was for heavy showers today so I planned a couple of short walks up near Thirlmere in between them.
One if the most useful gadgets I carry when walking is the dry bag for my iphone. With it I can take photos in really bad weather – although sometimes the quality of the image does drop with rain on the case or light catching on the extra plastic in front of the lens.
There is a sponge pad inside the case that helps squeeze the air out of the case and the small vacuum it causes pulls the plastic tight over the camera lens, which helps with image quality.

No walking today, the wind is howling around my chalet and the rain is beating on the patio doors!
The only two bad things about staying at Diamond Resorts is that:
1 you have to pay for the wifi
2 Diamond Resort / Swisscom wifi is useless
So to get a good 3G signal I need to drive a couple of miles down the coast, where I can park and have a great view. Fortunately by the time I took this photograph the gales and the rain had eased.

I moved on today to Pine Lake, near Carnforth. The drive here gave me a chance to do some walking in the Lake District – however the torrential rain and frozen rain stopped that.
I did however get some opportunity to take some photographs in Kirkstone Pass.
Yesterday’s snow came to nothing, but today was grey, windy and cold so I did a short local walk right out the back of my house, using both the Aviemore Orbital Path and the Speyside Way.
