Carnforth pt 2

Rather than walk along the road I chose the “cut the corner” and use a footpath between Warton and Millhead – to find that the path was flooded.

Luckily for me the field was frozen so I was able to walk on the water – the ice creaked and cracked a little but I did not go through. However don’t use this path once the temperature goes up – and when I walk back tonight I will use the road!

Walked through Carnforth and out to the Lancaster Canal Tow Path. The canal of course was frozen.

To use the camera on my iPhone means I have to take off my gloves and when that is on top of a mountain and the temperature is below zero it severely limits the number of shots I can take.

Once done I packed the camera away as it was getting late and I knew that the last part of the journey down would be in the dark, not a problem as I always carry a headlamp. So I finished an excellent days walking with the stars out.

Lancashire Coastal Way pt 2

The Lancashire Coastal Way passes very close to Pine Lakes so as the day was sunny but cold – and to avoid the hill walkers in the Lakes – I chose to walk out to the coast.

There was a suitable path right outside the resort gates so I did not need to use the car.

Lunch Stop

I found a great place for lunch – hot chicken noodles, maple syrup granola bar and fresh coffee – with a view.

I used my Source 1l roll up water bottle, that Jeremy got me for Christmas, for the first time today. It fitted well into one of the grab pockets on my pack, but it was a bit “squeezy” when I came pour water from it. The result was some spillage over the stove, my trousers etc – it will need a bit more care when in use compared to my Platypus roll up bottle.
