Camping

Afternoon at the campsite

It has been a grey windy afternoon, with the hills opposite the site obscured by cloud.

It was the right choice to put the back of my tent into the wind – a few tents on the site that chose to pint their tents at the view have been battered by the strong winds with two of the being blown down. I have shot some video of my tent in the wind which I will post when I leave 1985 and move back into the 21st century and the Internet!

Skye Camping and Caravan Club Site

The Skye Camping and Caravan Club site is located on the side of Loch Greshornish near Edinbane. The site is very exposed to the the prevailing westerly winds – which were blowing hard as I put my tent up.

Because of the wind I pitched the back of the tent to the view (and wind) and put the wind break at the back to give the tent some protection. This also means I am cooking at the back of the tent.

Not that it is windy all time – this morning the wind had dropped off to a light breeze and I had my breakfast looking out over the loch.

There is no EE phone signal at the site so no 3G or even 2G, the posts I have made this morning have been done in Portree, where there is a poor 2G EE service. I looked around the village for a cafe with wifi but could not find one – and the couple of BT wifi signals I found had their public wifi turned off!
