Whilst Christmas shopping in Aldi, I picked up a few things for my walking trip to Aviemore in mid-January.
The microwave rice (just heat it in a pot with a couple of spoons of water – you do not need a microwave) looked more interesting than the last varieties I bought and the same for the flavours of the instant noodles.
The Racer bar is like a Snickers bar but with more peanuts and a better size for snacking on when walking.
I also bought some coffee creamer powder and made up a creamer/freeze-dried coffee mix in a small nalgene bottle (2 spoons of creamer to 1 spoon of coffee) as the only pre-mixed sachets I could find in the shop were the sweetened variety.
I had a short walk out east of Newark on Bank Holiday Tuesday – the light was just right as I passed through Stapleford Woods.
The above image was taken with Camera+, but the original was very dark in the foreground. I then used the Camera+ “Clarify” function to lighten the foreground without losing the sun burst.
All images made with my iPhone 4, including post processing and cropping.
I have added some MP3 files to the Downloads page, of an interview with Bob Heil and a presentation he gave to the Lincoln Short Wave Club last week.

Bob Heil, K9EID, gave a presentation this evening to the Lincoln Shortwave Club from his radio shack/lab in Illinois USA, via Skype.
Octagon Technology set up the wifi network and presentation equipment for the event.
Who is Bob Heil? He built that box for Peter Frampton, friends with Joe Walsh, worked with The Who, the Grateful Dead etc – get more details from his Wikipedia page.
It was excellent.
