I thought I had been to the oldest inn in Scotland – read more here.

I am sure there is a semantic reason why they both appear to be claiming the same accolade.

    Again I see that Richard could be the one to get the blame for this, so for clarity….

    The Kenmore Hotel, commissioned in 1572 by the then laird Colin Campbell, has its origins in a tavern built around 70 years earlier offering accommodation and refreshments. It is reputed to be Scotland’s oldest hotel.

    The Clachan Inn is the oldest registered licensed pub in Scotland (1734). Owned by the Plank family since 1981. http://www.clachaninndrymen.co.uk/
